Founded in 2012, My Dream Smile is a non-profit organization dedicated to raising awareness about oral health and its impact on overall health. We advocate for the oral health of both youth and seniors, specifically focusing on vulnerable and underprivileged populations. We emphasize the importance of maintaining good dental hygiene by providing education on oral care and donating oral hygiene kits inside and outside of Canada. This includes hosting educational seminars in gender-based violence shelters, retirement and long-term care homes, and elementary schools.
To date, we have visited more than 30 schools in Ontario to give health and nutrition presentations. We have also visited more than 45 schools in India for oral health presentations, making an impact in the lives of more than 20,000 children to whom our organization handed out free toothbrushes and toothpastes.
Together, Team My Dream Smile strives towards establishing dental health equity around the world and giving everyone the gift of a healthy smile!
Balbir Sohi is a passionate dental care provider, innovator, entrepreneur, educator, and philanthropist. Since 2002, she has made significant strides in the dental hygiene industry, founding Smiles on Wheels, an innovative mobile dental hygiene clinic featured on CBC’s Dragons' Den. Her vision was to deliver effective and efficient dental care directly to clients, wherever they are. In addition to this, Balbir founded the non-profit organization My Dream Smile, with the mission of raising awareness about oral health and providing free services and seminars to underprivileged communities, both in Canada and abroad.
A strong advocate for education, Balbir is also the creator of the TV show Health Talk with Balbir and has mentored students at McMaster University's Department of Engineering. Throughout her career, she has been recognized with numerous awards, including the Brampton Board of Trade’s 40 Under 40, the Canadian Dental Hygienist Association’s Award of Merit, and RBC’s Top 75 Immigrants to Canada. Balbir’s dedication to giving back and ensuring everyone has access to quality dental care has made her a leading figure in both her professional field and the community.
